This is a stunning resource. It is beautifully illustrated and extremely well written. If you are running a Vampire Dark Ages game set in England/Wales/Scotland then it is more than worth the price of entry. I am running a Dark Ages game with a home city of Cardiff and there is plenty of interest here for me despite not being London, Winchester, Ely, Chester, or Gloucester (areas covered).

If you are running anything (not Dark Ages WoD) medieval set in the area of England then it is probably worth a look -there is lots of information on various medieval towns and their layout/history but also helpful road maps illustrating how many miles between city a and city b -which is system agnostic, I play in and run a lot of Ars Magica and something like this would have been very useful a decade ago, it may well now be useful in the next game I run in that system!

Vampire NPCs are statted in detail with complex webs of relationships between those in the same area. This is very useful and provides a host of prompts and tensions to drive/complicate stories. It also means areas are consistent and believable -everything fits together and makes sense. This is very welcome.

More content is mooted! The book is already fantastic and worth the five stars in my opinion, but one or more new chapters on another location would of course be very welcome.

The negatives:

There are some typos -most of these are tense issues and they do not spoil the meaning or flow of the book, they occasionally pop up is all. As it is pdf only, these may well get revised in time.

In a few instances the author has revised other pre existing Vampire Dark Ages material, in most cases this does not matter and a GM is of course able to make use of what they wish. If you are mid saga, you may have to adjust or discount a few details within -this is not a big deal in my opinion, but if your group is very familiar with Dark Ages Britain you may need to take a care to manage player assumptions if you are running a campaign based purely on this book.
