Scion Second Edition: Once and Future
Publisher: Onyx Path Publishing
by Nathan [Verified Purchaser]

Possibly the best Scion 2e book outside of the core hardbacks. Faithful to its topic and mechanically innovative at the same time.

7th Sea: Pirate Nations
Publisher: Chaosium
by Nathan H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 03/06/2017 00:24:09

Excellent addition to the 7th Sea setting. 2nd Edition's reimaging of Numa as a full nation in its own right adds swashbuckling fantasy "not-Greece" to the makeup of Theah. The Atabean Trading Company are exactly the villains a heroic pirate campaign needs! The new nations of the Atabean Sea ("not-Carribbean") give a taste of the bredth of Terra on the horizon, from the native Rahuri, to the revolutionary nation of former slaves of Jaragua, and the Pirate Republic of Aragosta.

La Bucca (a former Theahn Prison colony that's now a privateer free market state near Theah itself, at least relative to the Atabean Sea and the pirates of Aragosta) speaks to me less strongly than the others, but I realize that's probably personal taste rather than any lack of quality on the part of La Bucca.

Exalted 3rd Edition
Publisher: Onyx Path Publishing
by Nathan H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/20/2016 22:55:51

Probably the best edition of the game to date (at least comparing only core books). Creation finally feels as VAST as its meant to, and the mechanics don't result in "perfect-or-die" mote attrition in combat. May be a bit too mechanics heavy for some's tastes with the massive charm list and their new paradigm of stacking with each other - but it remains a tentpole for epic fantasy roleplaying.

World of Darkness: The God-Machine Chronicle
Publisher: Onyx Path Publishing
by Nathan H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 05/03/2013 21:46:26

The New World of Darkness finally stepping out of its predecessor's shadow here to become its own thing. Now they finally can stand shoulder to shoulder as equals since the NWoD isn't trying to fit a previous pattern. Instead it presents a world of cosmic horror played out on the personal level - in addition to one of the best social influence mechanics I've ever read.

Mage Noir
Publisher: White Wolf
by Nathan H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 03/24/2011 00:20:15

A fantastic exploration of both the modern history of the Awakened (via the book's coverage of the 1940s) and of setting elements and themes that really drive home the noir elements for a mage game. Like "New Wave Requiem" (covering Vampire for the 1980s), the book is primarily a setting and thematic supplement, rather than a mechanics one, but the new Legacy within (a perfect choice for characters looking to embrace the era's themes of change and seeming helplessness, while very intentionally avoiding overwhelming those themes with the "power" of the Awakened) is a wonderful goody none the less. Also find within discussion of Mage philosophies governing the period, including which legacies are in ascendance for the various Pentacle Orders, as well as the anticipated reveal of the background on the Seer Pantechnicon Ministry!

Mirrors: Bleeding Edge
Publisher: White Wolf
by Nathan H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 02/01/2011 14:24:11

Absolutely fantastic addition to Mirrors. Those complaining about its lack of content don't seem to understand what this actually was - this is cut material (fleshed out a bit) from a storyteller's book for reworking the World of Darkness as you see fit. It is not supposed to be a full cyberpunk supplement. Judging it for what it was meant to be, it's a fantastic collections of ideas, thematic rule hacks, and advise for storytellers.

Thousand Correct Actions

Date Added: 02/03/2010 23:02:52

A must for any Dragon Blooded player or Storyteller. This supplement patches the previously unworkable DB Charms of Second Edition as well as providing amazing insight into the Realm military. The patches & expansion of the Terrestrial Charm set makes the Soldiers of the Primordial War true masters of mass combat & plays up the evolution of their strengths of group cohesion & power.

Glories of the Most High: The Maidens of Destiny
Publisher: White Wolf
by Nathan H. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 11/05/2009 12:35:51

An absolutely indispensable supplement worth it for the errata alone (2nd Edition Sidereal charms needed a tweak to bring them up to the standard they should be at). Besides the Maidens and the disturbing secrets of the cosmology they carry, you will also find new Martial Arts Styles (including a Sidereal Style) and the "banned" Greater Astrology Charms dangerous to the Loom itself. Easily the best thing to happen for Sidereal players since their First Edition core.

Glories of the Most High: Luna

Date Added: 11/05/2009 12:32:52

An indispensable resource for Exalted storytellers. Even if you don't intend to use the Silver Lady in your game, the new Lunar Charms & errata are fantastic and patch holes in their charm set (healing others, spider webbing, etc.) We also get new additions to the core setting mechanics with the much needed rules for "Defend Others" actions, and the long mysterious "White Reaper Style" wielded by the owl-maiden Lilith.

Date Added: 11/05/2009 12:28:13

An absolutely indispensable supplement. Even if you don't plan to use the Incarnae in your game, the new Solar Charms and errata are fantastic, and include such hidden goodies as the Abyssal Mirror of a high essence Perfect Defense that is the actual charm the Deathlords wield (with exploitable weaknesses!)
