I originally bought this to have a premade story for my Savage Age setting. It quickly turned into an ongoing game. The players loved the story and the depth of the characters involved. Any good storyteller will love this. This is a great way to introduce your players to the Savage Age with minimal prep work. I recommend if you get this to go ahead and pick up the Savage Age Kinfolk book, you won't regret it.

It’s a great product for the Savage Age line. The jumpstart contains: a tragic antagonist created by the horrors of the War of Rage, several ideas to use as a base for a chronicle, a premade pack full of interesting characters, writeups for allies of the antagonist and npcs, a section with the gifts used in the book (both old and new) and finally a nice summary of what to have in mind during a game in the Savage Age.

I wouldn't say that this book is essential. But if you have a hard time figuring out how to start a Savage age chronicle, it's great at giving you hooks. It also nicely introduces Broken-Brother himself. Giving him a tragic and sympathetic backstory in just a few pages of writing makes him a good reccuring villian if thats something to look for. And the price is no problem so even if you're not sure if you want to buy anything more from Savage age, thi can give you a good idea how the setting feels.

BLUF: This takes 90% of the guesswork out of starting a chronicle in the Savage Age. This is a must have resource for new storytellers to be able to jump straight into the deep end of this awesome Era Setting of Werewolf the Apocalypse. As an added bonus, the authors include a nice discount for some of the other Savage Age books which add depth and complexity to the setting. As it's been said in other reviews; the Savage Age books are what everyone wanted the W20: Shattered Dreams to include but didnt. I especially like that a big bad ass enemy (with a Rank 6 Gift!!!) npc and multiple neutral npcs are included. There are few things that I would have liked (such as some talens and fetishes) but all those are easily found in Savage Age Vol. 3. All in all; this relieves some of the immensity and anxiety that comes with starting a new TTRPG and shouldn't be ignored. You are truly getting content that is worth more than they are selling it for.
