This book is an effective class in how to create a characte in detail, along with what they might actually try to do in the world. Additionally, if you need an effective NPC, you've got one.

Though there are a few minor snags in the layout work, the inclusion of a form for correction makes that an easy to ignore issue. Otherwise, this book is excellent, and I recommend it to everyone.

It is an in-depth look at a specific Norse practitioner, explaining both how to do Norse magick (through the Focus system, Rotes and Wonders) and generally attempting to make the Focus system more concrete. By focusing on this one character, it gets very concrete with how her magick works and includes several allies (and given the topic, they're arguably a part of how the magic works as well).

Overall, it's a very good product that does useful things, and I hope to see more like it.

Paradigm Explored Wyrd and Weft is an interesting book that explores Norse magic but does it in a way that teachs one how to design a Paradigm of their own.

The writers focuse on a single mage, and created a comprehensive template for the characters. In the process of doing this, they demostrate the kinds of questions players should ask themselves when designing their own characters.

The Tabletop Gaming Club recommends this product. We really did like how this product was put together.

This is a fantastic deep dive into how a specific character's paradigm fits into the Mage 20th Edition rules. If, like me, you are new to Mage and wondering how the heck one starts from a character's belief/view-of-the-universe and eventually ends at the nuts and bolts how to create Effects you will find this very helpful. I particularly enjoy the Rotes section which details how a character creates an Effect by laying out the combined Spheres and justifying with their Paradigm, Practice, and Instrument.

I look forward to more of there paradigm deep dives.

By focusing on a single Mage, and providing an extensive deep-dive into her life, her Paradigm, and her magickal practices, Terry and Josh have created the most comprehensive template available for what an Awakened character can, and i daresay, should look like in Mage: the Ascension 20th Anniversary Edditon!

Wether you want to play a Norse Mystick or not, this book is mandatory reading for any aspiring Mage player who hasn't fully wraped their mind around the concept of "Paradigm", and wants to know what kind of questions they should be asking themsleves about who their character really is, and why they can do what they do!

More than worth the asking price! Buy it!

Alright, so before singing praises hoping for a discount:

  • this book is a deep-dive into a very specific paradigm tied to a ready-made character and might feel less useful if you're not gonna use norse magick.

Now to praise: I can work with this. Even if I wasn't planning on a setting/chronicle/character who was into norse magick, this is a great resource for how to tie things together when fleshing out a magick-user, developing their paradigm and deciding on practices and tools.

Because that's the thing when your new player asks about Mage. Inevitably, you're going to have to give them The Talk, and - me being a better ST than a pedagogue - just the neat little summary on page 9-10 helps a lot with that. I'm pretty confident I could toss this book at any of my new players, and it would clear up a metric ton of questions about how to go about detailing their own character's paradigm, practices and instruments.

All in all a well-spent 3 bucks.

Also, bonus points from a Swedish guy for being a book about things "norse" and not starting with "The Vikings..."

Good work, and here's hoping for more of these.

This gives you a lot of value for the price. This is the best breackdown and explanation on the M20 paradigm, practice and instruments. I will recomend this to people if they need help with this. This road map can be ued to help you when making your own characters and NPCs. On top of this you get a very interesting character with a fleshed out backstory, intruments, wonders and some Nordic lore. if this does become a series of works I am excited to see what comes next!
