Review The Hunter’s Armory

Series in General:

This series covers several kinds of weaponry players and storytellers might use in an WoD gameline. Weapon profiles include a picture, a brief description of the weapons and all the relevant data for use in game (difficulty, damage, range, concealment, weight, lenght, special rules and maneuvers and resources background costs). In general a great line to expand combat options in any chronicle. V5 compatibility. The developers note that the information presented in the series is designed to work in all editions of Vampire. But one might need to check the rules in V5 to assign the correct damage for the weapons in that ruleset.

Vol. 1 This First book in the series covers several options for revolvers, pistols and SMGs found in a modern chronicle. The weapon profiles are well written and can be used as a basis to adapt several firearms and manufacturers. The only missing thing in this volume is a chart that summarizes weapon info.

Vol.2 The Second book in the series covers modern weaponry with focus in SMGs, Rifles and Shotguns. Weapon profiles include a picture, a brief description of the weapons and all the relevant data for use in game (difficulty, damage, range, concealment, weight, lenght, special rules and maneuvers and resources background costs). Some of the weapons might be restricted for players but it’s still a very useful sourcebook.

Vol.3 The Third book in the armory series covers several “common” melee weapons and bows and crossbows. Weapon profiles include a picture, a brief description of the weapons and all the relevant data for use in game (difficulty, damage, range, concealment, weight, lenght, special rules and maneuvers and resources background costs). This book alongside the two previous volumes covers most of the options one might need in a chronicle set in a modern setting.

Vol.4 The Fourth book in this series covers several japanese weapons and the special maneuvers associated with them. Weapon profiles include a picture, a brief description of the weapons and all the relevant data for use in game (difficulty, damage, range, concealment, weight, lenght, special rules and maneuvers and resources background costs). In our opinion the most niche book in the series since it only covers weapons from one country.

Vol.5 This volume covers firearms, artillery and a couple melee weapons one might find in a Victorian Era setting or in the hands of elder vampires in a modern chronicle. Weapon profiles include a picture, a brief description of the weapons and all the relevant data for use in game (difficulty, damage, range, concealment, weight, lenght, special rules and maneuvers and resources background costs).

Vol. 6 The sixth volume in this series covers a variety of firearms for use in a Chronicle set in the Wild West or in the hands of elder vampires in a modern chronicle. Weapon profiles include a picture, a brief description of the weapons and all the relevant data for use in game (difficulty, damage, range, concealment, weight, lenght, special rules and maneuvers and resources background costs).

The Tabletop Gaming Club recommends this series to all fans of the world of darkness.

Philadelphia by Night V5 Update [BUNDLE]

This book is the first in a series detailing the city of Philadelpia through different time periods and covers the time between the Colonial Period to the years before the World’s Fair in 1876. And is written to be used with the 20th Anniversary ruleset in mind. The author recommends having acces to Vampire: The Victorian Age and Vampire: The Wild West for inspiration in creating stories for the time period.

The first thing one notices is the gorgeous presentation. The folks at Chopping Block Media give us a full color experience with custom page borders, different page backgrounds for each chapter and several custom illustrations.

The book is very good with a detailed description of the history and geography of the City with plenty ploothooks and places of interest for use in a Chronicle. We really liked the sections dealing with how to portray the bigotry and prejudice inherent to the time period in a mature and respectful manner. We really liked the fact that the history of the Prince directly linked to the development of the Philadelphia and the greater Camarilla presence in the United States. The Kindred presented are very interesting and well written either as individuals or coteries and ther stats in the appendix look appropiate to their age.

The brief campaign in Chapter five forms part of events described in the greater history of the City so the results are a foregone conclusion, even then it is interesting and can be used to set the stage for a longer campaign that explores the consequences of the PCs.

The V5 conversion kit does a decent job making the product v5 compatible.

We strong recommend this book to all fans of the world of darkness.

PaperCraft Dice Sects
Publisher: White Wolf
by DSC T. G. C. _. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 10/20/2021 11:26:08

The concept of paper dice is very interesting. But when we tried to assemble them, we found that they ended up being weighted unevenly, causing the dice results to not be completely random. That being said they were better than having no dice at all, and for an intro game would work fine.

The author also has a lot of grammar errors in this book. The word "data" appears in numerous spots in the book where we believe the author meant to use the word "dice". Also the author should be aware that "dice" is the plural form of the word, while die is the singular form of the word. There are also a few capitialization issues.

Overall the templates themselves are excellent. Care must be taken putting them together, in order to avoid uneven weighting. The few sections of text in the book should be edited.

Update: The author did correct quite a few of the grammar errors. There are still a couple of them remaining, mostly with capitialization. The paper dice are still a nice edition to the storyteller vault library of tools.

Thanks for the review. The grammatical errors are being corrected. On the random results, the die follow the same pattern of the actual models, I recommend using the die that are in PNG format
