It's a good book and all but it feels a touch haphazard. It seems comprised of elements that should have been in the corebook, but there's not enough of them for it to feel like a proper supplement in its own right, everything could and should have been given more detail, from the spectre cults to the new thorns (of which there's only like 2) to the different locations it describes all just needed more time and info that plot hooks could be built on. the tempest chapter in particular feels frankly just confused and awkward and almost feels like it focuses too far on one view of the tempest rather than other possibilities. its strange.

overall fine enough but it just needed more, shame it's been the only Wr20 supplement thus far. The game could really do with more.

The chapter on the Tempest feels like it was written by someone who has never actually read Wraith or understands how things like the seperation between the living and dead work. For example, flooding in the real world shouldn't completely flood the Underworld. It's not literally under the living world.

IMHO there is something fundamentally wrong about the way this books are being edited. Sometimes they are too big, trying to cover everything like there is no tomorrow. Other times, they follow an avenue to great depths, but feel like they aren't looking an inch to the side. And sometimes, like this book, they feel like everything that was cut out of the main book was just thrown together and given a cover.

Dont get me wrong, the text is awesome, art and formatting are great, I dont remember any mistakes, but I feel this book would have been better if it were four books instead of one: Shadows and Spectres, Tempest and the Labyrinth, Other Kingdoms of the Dead, and Soulforging. To be honest, this is something Wraith always suffered from - Ends of Empire and the double Guildbooks won't let me lie.

All in all, I'd rather have this book than not, but it surely could have been better.
