When White Wolf decided to take the Lupines, terrifying monsters lurking outside the cities, from Vampire the Masquerade and created the Garou, savage protectors of the Earth, for Werewolf the Apocalypse they ended up creating something entirely different from that original concept. While the Garou are wonderful beasts to play, they do not evoke that same feeling of horror that the lupines did. This book aims to fix that, and after reading it I must agree that it does!
What you get is a Antagonist splat-book, helping you really build up a Vampire the Masquerade game centered around these monstrous werewolves. In 5 chapters it details:
- What your players, the vampires, know.
- How the Lupines work, both mechanically and as a society of beasts.
- How fighting them should be like.
As well as giving you a couple of lupine example characters that can both be used as NPCs or as inspiration.
This book truly succeeds in creating monstrous werewolves with no redeeming qualities. And coming from someone who has mostly played Werewolf rather than Vampire, it really says something when I can safely say I would side with the vampires over the lupines any day! There is genuine horror here, and it fits much better into the world of Vampire the Masquerade than the Garou does.
Are you a Vampire storyteller wondering what the next antagonist in your game will be? Look no further!
