I enjoyed this book for the most part, but the parts about the top tier mages were just OK. It was more cautionary and seemed to be on the verge of not recommending playing these characters. That was my only gripe in an otherwise good book.

There's a lot of good material for roleplaying in this book. The general distinctions between Archmasters, Exemplars, and Oracles, the discussion of how to maintain your humanity or at least something resembling sanity when long-lived, all of that's great. There's a few awkward places where it contradicts itself (in at least one case within a single paragraph) but overall it's solid. The book's greatest weakness is the Archspheres, which are not well thought out, and include some levels that actually do nothing, from the mechanics.

Overall, a solid book, and if the archspheres were redone the book would be a good thing to update for the current edition.

Fantastic write-up for M:tA by White Wolf. Focused around Arete 6+ and Sphere's at 6+ and how Mages would theoretically work at that level!

A definite buy if you're looking for higher end power for that game system! Keep in mind it's 3rd edition, and as of currently to my knowledge there is no 20th Anniversary translation. With that in mind, it's -still- a fantastic buy! The pdf has all the pages pristine, crisp, and easy to read, and is definitely worth the cost of getting.

finding out the sphere beyond the master level is worth this book itself

Sufficiently interesting for reading, though I wonder how playable these ultra-high power archmages would be, though.
