Exalted 1st Edition is still my favorite version overall.
Can't get anyone to play 3rd Edition to be honest. People spend years playing with Ex1e and Ex2e and they hesitate to leave their old books behind for new editions.

I was mad when Exalted moved to 2e after I just spent $25 (x6) plus the various sourcebooks. But that over 4 years. 2e books was released for 7-10 years I believe. So I understand why they don't want to move on.

My 3e collection is small. Just Corebook + Lunars so far.

Is this a scan of printed book or OEF?
On Full-size preview, it looks like it have native vector text, fully selectable, etc., but when I read "Too bad the file that I downloaded didn't match the quality of the preview AT ALL. Scan lines and worse on my copy ..." I start to worry if preview file wasn't prepared to look better than a book itself.

I realise this comment is old; but for others reading and wondering:

They just uploaded a new version of the file. I've downloaded and compared to the previous one - Much better, especially on images. (and smaller size now too.) Rendering of pages is now instant - used to take a second.

Text is all selectable, so doesn't look like a scanned version (even in the original pdf it was fine.). Just that some of the images were very poor quality/highly compressed. Biggest improvement is on the cover- Now looks like the original printed book cover.

If you're concerned about quality, don't be. Even in the original version it was fine, and as of the new upload it's better still.

Yes, the jump in quality over the old file is quite dramatic. I never had a physical copy and I can see so many details I never saw before. The colors on the cover pop out brightly now. And it's got bookmarks this time around too. Text is still selectable.
I would not have wanted a POD of the old file but I can imagine printing the new version would actually be worth it.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
