Exalted… But Quicker!

Inspired by the original Free Introductory Kit and decades of RPG evolution since, Qwixalted is rules-light Exalted gaming for mere mortals.

  • Not A Replacement: You will still need a copy of Exalted (Third Edition or Exalted: Essence is recommended) for the setting, themes, and background of the game.
  • For The Fans: Readers are assumed to already be experienced RPG players and Exalted fans.
  • Simple But Deep: Any campaign or character concept from Exalted is playable using a set of simplified and streamlined components.
  • Small Dice Pools: Chance comes from a single die, but 30 dice adds complexity. These rules avoid stacking modifiers at all costs.
  • Modular Powers: Long lists of unique powers are replaced with a small set of components that combine for a myriad of possible effects.
  • Limited Systems: Action Resolution resolves simple rolls fast, Conflict Resolution builds drama for battles and intrigues, and Projects handle all manner of extended efforts.
  • No Prep: Seriously. Most system components are Player-side, so the Storyteller is free to build Threats and Quick NPCs on the fly!

I remember there were at least 3 different versions of Qwixalted on the Internet. Is this one of those, or a new version?

Haha solid question. This is new version, from the original author (me!). It keeps some of the basic principles from that first version, remixes some stuff, and adds in support for the new 3E exalts.

I've only skimmed though it so far, but I have high hopes that this might let me enjoy playing Exalted again. I've previously picked up Exalted Essence, and even that was too rules thick for my enjoyment. OK, let me get back to reading through it in detail.

Right on! Yeah there's no way this (or any version of Exalted really) will please everyone, but these rules helped me run a couple campaigns for my own tables so I hope you find some useful stuff in there!

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
