In the Realm of Gods and Dreams (for Changeling: the Dreaming)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The gates of heaven are closed

Only this world remains

A world of fairies and demons

Of dark shadows and neon lights

A land of endless dreams –

And endless nightmares

We are creatures of myth

We are children of magic

Bound in human form

In life after fragile life

We weave enchantments and unleash miracles

To remind the world of the gods

In this age of darkness and despair

Our legend begins now

Come – The curtain is rising

On a once-in-a-millennium tale

Risk everything, embrace your destiny

The earthly pageant awaits

In the Realm of Gods and Dreams is:

Asian-Style Urban Fantasy - Become one of the Little Gods: the fairies, immortals, and divine misfits who take human form and live secret lives in the modern world. Protect the mortals you love and answer their prayers to heaven as you face the dangers of the Age of Sorrows: elegant and wrathful Half-Devils, cunning Hungry Dead, the god-eating Harvesters, and more.

A Reincarnation of Changeling: the Dreaming - Inspired by the original Storytelling Game of Modern Fantasy, this book contains an all-new setting and systems to tell your stories of the fae around the world: a wealth of character options, the potent and flexible magic of the Arts, example characters, and story hooks from all across East, South, and Southeast Asia.

Ready to Play - Just Add a Core Book - While In the Realm of Gods and Dreams is recommended for use with Changeling: the Dreaming 20th Anniversary Edition, this book has been designed so you can be ready to play using any other core books in the World of Darkness series (20th Anniversary/4th Edition, Revised/3rd Edition, or 2nd Edition):

  • Vampire: the Masquerade

  • Werewolf: the Apocalypse

  • Mage: the Ascension

  • Wraith: the Oblivion

  • Hunter: the Reckoning

  • Demon: the Fallen

I am sorry for asking this question.
Love, Absolutely love your work! I have been deep into WOD for a long time and have adored your version of the Kuei Jin and Little Gods while putting a new spin on it.

But do you happen to have a form fillable version of the little god character sheet pdf? all my games are run online.

Funny you should ask -- There is something currently in the works. Still in progress, but I'll reply to this thread as soon as I have more info. Thank you for keeping the Year of the Lotus alive!

Here you go -- Mr Gone made some form-fillable ItRoGaD sheets for one of his patrons, and he was generous enough to keep me in the loop during the crafting process. They're excellent, truly! Get it on his webpage here:

A question about the Relentless Age and also other gamelines for that matter. I saw in one of the example circles "The Fur-and-Feather Delegation" that they are a circle comprised of both members of the Beast Courts and the Little Gods guarding a Caern. Could one do similar with other gamelines like for example having the Hungry Dead and the Little Gods specifically form a circle, or a circle answering the prayer of a coterie of vampires causing said coterie and the newly formed circle to merge? I am essentially wondering to what extent non-little gods can be involved in a formalized circle.

That's an interesting question. Yes, you can have mixed Circles, but the system incentives for non-Little Gods would have to be something other than Glamour. I would go for something enlightenment-based: Hungry Dead sense the potential for dharmic growth, the Beast Courts increase Renown by working with the gods, vampires may grow in their Virtues or earn some Path/Humanity, and so on.

Then there's the issue of Enchantment, making sure that the non-Little Gods can interact with the golden world on equal terms. Luckily, agreeing to be part of a formal Circle is an excellent basis for characters to be struck by destiny and become God-Touched, making it far easier for them to hold onto Glamour and maintain Enchantment (and maybe even begin the road of becoming God-Blooded, which is a whole different kettle of fish).

Hope that helps. Thanks for reading the book!

If i remember correctly Hungry Dead when Cultivating their God-Soul can see the Golden World, right?

That's correct: Roll Righteousness to cultivate for the scene, or spend 1 Chi to skip the roll. The downside is that they can't cultivate other souls while the Heavenly Soul is active, which is why Hungry Dead still benefit from being Enchanted like everyone else. They also don't suffer from the Mists, making them ideal for mixed Circles (if they can overcome the temptation of the golden blood, that is).

How would this work if you only have VtM 20?

A great question, and thank you for asking. You do need *a* core book, but I've taken care that it doesn't need to be a *Changeling* core book.

To explain further, ItRoGaD was intentionally written so that the only piece that's missing is an explanation of the Storyteller System itself, which every 20th corebook has somewhere in its pages: how to roll dice, combat rules, healing times, chase rules, unique circumstances like poisoning or electrocution... things of that nature. This is to keep the book in line with Storyteller's Vault requirements, which stipulate that a core book is necessary for all community content supplements.

However, to ensure that you can truly just use V20 (or any other corebook), I included a functional breakdown of Attributes, Abilities (at least the ones used in this game, since that does differ slightly across gamelines), mortal Backgrounds, and Willpower in the character creation chapter. Your core book gives you the benefit of more expansive descriptions...See more

PSA: Version 2 of the book (featuring corrections, clarifications, and some extra content) is coming out soon, I anticipate in about a week's time. Everyone who has already bought a copy will be notified when it's available for download, and I'll update here in the discussion thread as well.

Yet another question from me, is the reading of the Yuki-onna revelry mean that they always hurt people when they touch them? Or is that a choice?

Now is actually the best time for questions, so bring them on!

The Yuki-onna Revelry is normally an intentional action, just like other Revelries. The exception is when their temporary Glamour falls below the threshold to trigger their Frailty, in which case they may accidentally use their Revelry just by touching someone (not guaranteed, but the option is there for drama -- meaning the player can actively choose it, while the character is blindsided and horrified to hurt someone they love). I'll add a couple words to this section to make the distinction clearer for the Version 2 update.

There's currently a character sheet on the final page of the book, in the style of the old White Wolf printed books. When Version 2 of the book goes live (with errata, corrections and fixes), I'd like to also include a 2-page character sheet as a separate file.

As someone who already purchased the book, you'll be informed when the Version 2 update goes live so you can download the file(s). I estimate it will happen in early October. Thanks for your support!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
