Blood Alchemy Remastered

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Blood Alchemy is an interesting mix of occult ritual, chemistry and experimentation. To this end I took my time with the book and did my own take on it. I focused on trying to give a better description of Formulas, their Recipes, how they are made and how it can all go wrong, while trying to keep it simple and short. I focused a bit more on the fun side of what a half vampire alchemist should be in the world of darkness.

  • 66 Formulas (old and new re-written).
  • 3 different Alchemical Methods. There is a section of 30 formulas that can be used across all 3 methods and a section for each method that has a list of 12 formulas you can only use under it.
  • Each Formula also has a Complication, which occurs if it all goes horribly wrong.
  • Cocktail Madness, for when you use too many Formulas at once.
  • Ranges, times, effects, conditions, risks and more added to make the Formulas less vague.
  • Part of the Shadowfall collection (my personal collection with more titles to come)
  • All rules are meant to be used in V5. The rules and powers are optional. This means you can pick and chose which powers you wish to include in your games or just take inspiration from the rules provided.

If anyone wishes to get in touch with me as I continue working on such projects then please add me on Discord - Peter Wolfman#0917

There's an issue with the Fixatio powers, as none of them includes a test.

I assume the roll would be Intelligence + Fixatio, and the difficulty would be similar to the difficulty for Calcinatio or Athanor Corporis powers (so, difficulty 3 for power levels 1, 2, or 3, then difficulty 4 for level 4, and 5 for level 5).

I have two questions regarding your version of the discipline affinity merit. First, what do you mean by "clan-specific Discipline" are you talking about the Clan Signature Disciplines, like say Protean and Serpentis? Second, the merit states you cannot take "Cainite Sorceries(Blood Sorcerer)", does this specifically mean Blood Sorcery? Mortals can learn Necromancy and Koldunic Sorcery, so it feels odd to me that a Thin-Blood couldn't do the same in this alternate rule set.

Hello Bruce,my apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
The questions are, related to the Thin-blood merits and flaws table I assume?

Clan specific disciplines does indeed mean disciplines such as Dementation, Obtenebration, Serpentis etc.

Cainite sorceries generally means any for of Cainite magic. So this includes Blood Sorcery, Necromancy and Koldunic Sorcery. The reasoning for this is two fold.
1st Cainite Sorcery should feel somewhat unique and I feel that Thin-bloods already have plenty going on to help them stand out.
2nd story wise I feel like the unique status thinbloods have puts them in a unique situation where they lose some of their mortal gifts but are not strong enough to do Sorcery, condemning them to always be cheap knock off's at best.

But look, honestly speaking, I always say to use these books as an inspiration, so if it makes sense to you for a Thin blood to have blood Sorcery, go for it and have fun with it. The spirit of the...See more

on page 51 of the pdf, the Level 0 power of Fixatio is just a reprint of the Level 0 power of Calcinatio. ((as of the 2/22/24 update))

It was a lucky catch, we normally do reviews for various authors that send us stuff, but one of our members had bought your book to use in one of our games, and we happened to notice.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
