Potence Remastered

ADD TO WISHLIST >
My own personal spin on the Potence discipline:
- 20 powers (old and new re-written)
- optional rules for Discipline Banes & Bonuses
- advice for which abilities are LARP friendly
- ranges, times, effects, conditions, risks and more added to make the powers less vague
- part of the Shadowfall collection (my personal collection with more titles to come)

I added a custom preview with some of the powers listed there as requested by one of my buyers.
Please leave a rating with a comment on it about what you think of the abilities as I am always keen to improve upon my work.

Are these remasters meant to be used with V5 material?

Hello Erik
Yes it is meant for V5. It is a list of powers. You only need the V5 core book for some rule refrencing but otherwise you should be able to use the document on its own. The powers and rules included are meant to be modular, meaning you can use any number of the powers included (or substitute an existing one with my re-written version) , or just take inspiration from it.

After reading this preview, I wonder what the intent of these is? It just feels like a powered up (and somewhat overpowered) version of the Discipline meant to use in place of the core. I'm mainly asking for sake of clarity, since some people might buy these to use the non-core powers alongside 'core' powers and it doesn't seem like this one was built to really do that.

Hello Elmer, as always your reply is appreciated.
The simple answer to your question is that their intent is for fun.
The more complex one is that it is meant to provide more options (and in the case of individual powers - clarity) for the players to explore.
I build these books (at this point booklets) with the idea of a modular rule set in mind. In other words you can chose any number of powers from the collection and use it to spice up your game, use a re-writen one if you think an existing one misses (although to be fair some powers just needed to be clarified and tidied up - not trying to reinvent the wheel) it's mark or just take inspiration from them. The discipline banes and bonuses are also written with that in mind so that the powers do not suffer if you use them or not (and in instances where powers directly relate to bane & bonus I in most cases provided alternative rules so they remain relative).
Otherwise as far as power scaling goes I do include a design note in it in...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
