ADD TO WISHLIST >

The world of Exalted is vast and ancient, a world of endless mystery and possibility. The Corners of Creation series describes strange and wonderous places, complete with write-ups for the characters who inhabit them, suggestions for using the setting in stories, and extra options for player characters.

For centuries, the Storm King and his army have raided the lands around his aerial castle, amassing a vast hoard of treasure. But there is more to his raiding than simple greed, and the magical security around his vault is not just to keep thieves out, but to protect Creation from the horrors contained within.

Contains:

  • A detailed setting rife with supernatural brigandage.
  • Six sets of character traits: an Exigent, a lesser elemental dragon, a god, a Sidereal, an air elemental and a Third Circle Demon.
  • A new martial arts style: Racing Lightning Style.
  • Numerous Story Seeds providing ideas for using the setting and characters.

I loved the Racing Lightning style Martial Arts! Just have one question and one concern.
-If the stylist uses Flash Stride or Speeding Gust Evasion to prevent their opponent from contesting their movement action, do they still treat it as a contested movement action for the purposes of the Form charms 'contested movement action' ? My assumption is yes, since they can't contest it the stylist treats their oppositions roll as zero?
-The chance to stun an opponent through Thunderclap Passage feels very potent, I can't recall a lot of similar effects. On the other hand, maybe the number of range bands required for this effect to take place create their own sort of limitation? My instinct would be to limiting the stun to once per scene or changing the stun to penalty (maybe stylists essence?, but I'm not sure how this looks in practice.

If you stop anyone contesting an action, is it still contested? (And, if a tree falls in the forest and there’s no one there to hear it…) In this case, it seems reasonable to say yes, as the relevant charms don’t technically stop people trying to contest the action, they just guarantee that the attempt to contest it is ineffective.

I see your point about Thunderclap Passage, it’s definitely an Essence 3 effect, but to use it regularly means you’ll have to keep Disengaging, which means you’ll be losing your own attack action for the turn. This also means that enemies effectively have two opportunities to resist – either by making the Stamina + Resistance roll, or by stopping you from moving in the first place. Also, bear in mind that the effect applies equally to allies, which is a fairly significant drawback in many circumstances.

The form charm of lightning racer style allows two move actions per turn. This rather messes up the disengage action. No amount of winning opposed tests can get you away from a lightning racer stylist, even if you successfully disengage you can at most match their movement for no net change. I believe that I would alter this if it ever came up in a game i ran.

This seems… a valid comment, particularly when I do a careful look through the Solar Athletics charms. I’ve modified Racing Lightning Form to make it hopefully a bit more balanced. Thanks for the feedback.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
