100 Nockers for Changeling: the Dreaming

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This supplement has 100 briefly described nockers that can be used in a game of Changeling: the Dreaming. In most cases, their court allegiance, and often their seeming, are not described, allowing a Storyteller to configure them as needed. They can be used as random Kithain encountered, or as friends or foes.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • Freddie Williams: Freddie makes sculptures, though sculptures formed of metal and which actually do things. They might not do anything useful, but every sculpture that Freddie makes contains moving parts and, sometimes, actual engines, with steam being the most common type. The nocker is channelling their secret love of art into sculptures and is perhaps an even bigger critic of their own work than the typical artist. Freddie will deny, sometimes quite violently, that they are making the sculpture out of a love of art, but that is what they are doing.
  • Grace Carter: Grace is a childling who is still in the dismantling everything phase of their life, which is causing more than a few problems. Grace almost always has a few tools on them, and the nocker can always improvise some from things that are lying around. If the nocker is left unattended for even a few minutes, there's a very good chance that whatever items could be dismantled are at least partially dismantled and that some things that, technically, cannot be dismantled are in at least a few pieces.
  • Hannah Davies: Hannah is a nocker wilder who often looks distinctly emaciated. Like many wilders, they focus on their latest project to the exclusion of all else, and as they rarely have someone around who can remind them to eat, they often forget to for several days, only doing so when they collapse. In truth, Hannah can probably not go on like this for much longer; they either need to find someone willing to remind them to eat or stop forgetting to do it. Sooner or later, a nasty accident might happen if they pass out from hunger whilst using tools.
  • Harley Stone: Harley has gained something as a reputation as a trouble causer at school, a reputation that, although understandable, is not entirely justified. The nocker childling has only recently undergone Chrysalis and is still at the taking things to pieces stage of nocker development. And that has caused Harley's reputation as a troublemaker, for they have taken a lot of things to pieces at their school and not bothered to put them back together again. As a result, the school has had to spend a lot of time and money undoing the damage caused by Harley's curiosity.
  • Henry Morgan: Henry is an Unseelie nocker who is very secretive with what they're working on judging, rightly, that some of their projects would not be appreciated by other Kithain. For Henry builds things using cold iron, and cold iron is unquestionably being used to make cold iron weapons. Not simple knives and swords, but entire machines designed to inflict damage through the use of cold iron. Should this become known, Henry would quickly be seized, and probably just as quickly die, for their weapons are being constructed for someone who wants to remain hidden.

PURCHASER
If you've been following this author's content prior, there is nothing new here. For the low-low-price of $1.99 you're getting a collection of 100 Character blurbs. If not, after picking this up for all your Nocker needs, you should consider picking up the rest from this writer's catalogue.

While when reading these I /personally/ found less blurbs I wanted to run as NPCs for a chronicle, but between myself and my table we came to the conclusion that we now need to play an all Nocker playgroup as the players fell in love with the ideas of Adriana Moore, Brittany Adkins, Dominik Koch, Frances Parker, and Jessica Armstrong. So now I am scrambling to throw together a new short CtD chronicle. ....perhaps leaning on the recluse Evie Thompson and Eric Beckermann as my two key focal points.
Each of these knockers does properly capture the spirit and tone of the Kith and can probably find a home in /any/ chronicle.

The writing is still the tops and worth a look, even if you don't think...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
