100 Children of Knowledge for Mage: The Ascension

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Children of Knowledge of Mage: The Ascension are also known as the Solificati and are members of the Disparate Alliance. This supplement has 100 Children of Knowledge that could be encountered. Each is named and given a brief description. The dedication of each Solificati to their cause ranges from the disillusioned to the fanatical, and both extremes are dangerous. The Children of Knowledge can be used for brief encounters or as potential sources of adventure hooks.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • Gilberte Chausson: Gilberte continues in the tradition started by Dr Alfred Hoffman and his team, the creators of LSD, whether or not they were Children of Knowledge or just inspired by them in the creation of new and interesting chemicals from scratch. Chemicals that can expand the mind and allow the user to see sights they have never seen before. Not every creation is successful; some sights are those that no-one would ever wish to see. Gilberte's main accomplishment, though, is using everyday substances as the foundation of these chemicals; substances that can be bought at a supermarket.
  • Greyson Watson: Greyson believes that everyone should have the opportunity to expand their mind and has decided that the best way of reaching the most people isn't to deal with them on a one-to-one basis, but instead to spread the information as widely as possible. Something that the internet is very useful at accomplishing. Greyson publishes detailed instructions on how people can create their own mind-altering substances in the comfort of their own home. Needless to say, this has led to several issues of improper use.
  • Harriet Fraser: Harriet has an unusually depressing view of the universe for one of the Solificati, possibly because they have spent too long studying the sphere of Entropy and, as Nietzsche said, the abyss looked back. Not that Entropy is in and of itself bad, but too many personal losses have resulted in Harriet losing faith in almost anything. They may well be on the verge of Quiet or, worse, starting to think the Fallen are onto something. If there was anyone close to the Child of Knowledge, they would see warning signs, but part of the problem is that Harriet has fallen out of contact with most.
  • Harry Cooper: Harry is part of a research team that is researching... something. Most of those who come into contact with the team are unable to make head or tail just what the group is looking into. It's not so much that Harry and the others are being deliberately obtuse; it's more that what they are researching doesn't make much sense to the average person. Or many who are above average. Harry's team would probably have been closed down by now if it wasn't for the fact that their efforts do yield rewards that make it worthwhile. Even if it isn't understood how those rewards were attained.
  • Héloïse Dior: Héloïse is interested in chemistry to a degree that has sometimes wound up with accusations of similarities to the Order of Hermes or, worse, the Technocracy. Neither accusation goes down well. Héloïse is just fascinated with the chemical process and what can be made through chemistry. Not that the Solificati would make statements about better living through chemistry, but it's certainly a statement they agree with in principle, if not with how the Technocratic Union used it as propaganda.

Like most of the 100 character books put out by Azukial Games, this one is another solid contribution. The book provides short one paragraph entries for each of the 100 characters, providing gamemasters a seed to spark interesting npcs. The T [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
