V5: New Predator Types

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This product provides 24 all-new Predator Types for character creation in Vampire the Masquerade: Fifth Edition, tripling the Predator Types available to you. Each Predator Type has a unique combination of options for Disciplines and a carefully chosen set of Advantages to support the feeding style. In addition, there are four new Merits and Flaws for use in these Predator Types and in other characters you create.

Update V1.1: Now with suggested Hunting Pools for each new predator type.

Ambulance Chaser. Humans shed blood all the time - in car accidents, drive-by shootings, domestic stabbings, and any of a myriad of weirder and rarer circumstances. You wait for these serendipitous, bleeding moments, pouncing on the victims to lick up the blood that flows from their wounds before the other first responders can arrive.

Blood Baby. You don't have to bother with finding ways to slake your hunger - an older and more powerful vampire takes care of that for you.

Codependent. You feed from a single mortal exclusively: your partner, parent, best friend, or trusted servant.

Condiment King. You prefer to take your meals by mixing blood with mortal food.

Contractor. Like the silver-tongued devil himself, you specialize in beguiling or ensnaring victims into contractual agreements for their blood.

Delivery Diner. You prefer to feed under the cover of delivery - you order takeout and take a few pints out of the driver as an extra on the ticket, or you are the driver feeding on poor mortals ordering sad Chinese for one.

Incarcerator. You kidnap and imprison your victims in your Haven, to feed on over the course of months or even years.

Intermittent Faster. You're not too picky about where your blood comes from; you just try to drink as little as possible.

Maskless. You prefer to feed while being observed by an audience of hundreds, if not thousands, of rapt mortals, relying on incredulity to convince them that you surely cannot actually be drinking human blood.

Opportunist. You feed on those on the fringes of society: immigrants, the homeless, eccentrics, etc.

Parasite. You feed on blood second- or third-hand, plucking ticks from bushes, lice from scalps, or mosquitoes directly from the air.

Quiverfull. You prefer to feed on your own childer rather than on mortals.

Recycler. Your feeding habits are shaped by your rare condition as an organovore.

Regulator. You know how to attune your body and mind to the resonance that you consume from a vessel, regulating your own emotions with the echoes of mortal feeling that you imbibe.

Remote Feeder. You prefer to feed using the world wide web.

Sipper. You have perfected the art of taking the tiniest of sips from a mortal, feeding a mere lick at a time.

Skimmer. You acquire blood through a business that you own or that employs you; a blood donation center or an alternative medicine clinic offering bloodletting to gullible mortals.

Specimen. The Second Inquisition, Pentex, or another shady mortal institution has pinned you down as one of their research subjects like a butterfly in a box.

Spider. You prefer to feed by drawing mortals into your web... and perhaps only sometimes allowing them to leave.

Stalker. A vampire is either predator or a parasite, and you most definitely prefer to be a predator.

Tampon Sucker. You rifle through the trash of public bathrooms to find used menstrual products from which you can suck dregs of blood like syrup from a lollipop.

Therapist. You feed on those with mental illnesses, particularly suicidality.

Warden. You feed on those most powerless to resist you: prisoners of the law, infirmity, or their own minds.

Xenophile. Changelings, werewolves, mages… these are all dangerous and evasive prey for vampires of all but the highest caliber.

This is a fantastic resource, my one issue is that the Skimmer type on page 7 seems to have the same mechanical description as the above Sipper type.

Just FYI, on page 9, the therapist predator type has a repeated bit of text. I think someone got a bit too carried away with the copy/paste.

In my experience, players always prefer to suggest a dice pool for their hunting rolls, and I've never had to refer to the example dice pools for their predator types. I'd actually forgotten that there was even a Predator Pools section to the book, tucked over a hundred pages away from the descriptions of the Predator Types themselves. I suppose I can revise the product and add Predator Pools for each new type, if you feel that should have been included.

Yes I'd really appreciate it! I agree the V5 core book has MANY problems forcing one to hunt down related rules all over the place, but I just keep a printed cheat sheet of the page with the rolls. I myself don't hold strictly to RAW and would allow other pools. For example the "Farmer" feeding roll is listed as Composure+Animal Ken, which is great for a zookeeper, but Kindred must HUNT, so I'd allow Wits+Survival (Hunting) especially give you can choose an Animal Ken specialty OR Survival (Hunting) as one of your two skill choice specialties/bonuses. Also I'd take Dex+Brawl vs Str+Brawl for instance even to a Gangrel say using Feral Weapons as the errata gave the claws status as a "light piercing weapon", the same as a knife, see? But it's your product & I liked a lot of it so of course it's your decision. You could just as easily add to the beginning of the book what you just told me that you prefer players to suggest rolls. But TY for your hard work & keep writing!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
