100 Broadcasts in the Madness Network

ADD TO WISHLIST >

All Malkavians are connected to the Madness Network. The Madness Network has many names, such as the Cobweb and the Hive, and nobody really knows why it exists. In it, each childe of Malkav has a presence, and everyone can sense it in some fashion. Each experience will be different from another, and if one tries to send a message out, there's a chance it will get caught up in the mix of hundreds of other voices. More often than not the Network itself is relatively quiet; think of it as a radio in the background that you can ignore. Every once in a while, however, a strong voice or image wrenches itself into the front of a Malkavian's mind.

It can be difficult to come up with different things that might be sent through the Network, so I have compiled a list of 100 different things a Malkavian may hear, see, feel or otherwise experience as a way to give inspiration. You can use these as they are, or alter them as necessary to best fit your game. The best thing about the Network is that all voices are right and wrong and up and down and true.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • The Plot: The Prince is actually in torpor or has met their final death and a Tzimisci has taken their place. The way in which the Network tries to tell the Malkavian: Every time the Malkavian Player looks at the Prince, they see flesh melting away like hot wax.
  • The Plot: A Lasombra isn't who they say they are. The way in which the Network tries to tell the Malkavian: A voice will be heard in the Malkavian's ear, "Look at the shadow... see how it moves, see where it comes from? It isn't right.... no...  it isn't right at all."
  • A sound of tapping comes from directly behind the Malkavian every 30 seconds.
  • The Madness Network's vision: Any time your Malkavian Player looks at photos of their family, at least any family they know are living or you (the StoryTeller) knows is undead, they hear the music they will immediately recognize as battle music.
  • "Cut them, bleed them, hang them, dry them. Cut them, hang them, bleed them, eat them. Eyes go here and mouth goes there. Bleed them, eat them, hang them, dry them."

One page is the front cover, four the front matter and one is ads.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
