Out of curiosity – are there any further resources you might suggest, or perhaps even provide (such as: design choices, influences, etc.), for Jeong-Bae Moon, and the Endless Host?

We do have an adventure in development "Blood Klot: Diablerie on Tour" that has the Endless Host in it, but not their Seraphim specifically. The main design choice behind Moon was to showcase the Salubri's role in the V5 Sabbat. Also to harken back to the warrior Salubri in previous editions. Moon's faction is one of the most direct and aggressive in the book, but also arguably the most "on mission" when it comes to taking on the Antediluvians and Gehenna. Their dicey "alliance" with House Goratrix is also meant to highlight their Seraphim's deep hatred of mainstream Tremere and the Salubri elders and the lengths they're willing to go to undermine them.

There are two bundles that let you get the book for $17, but the $19.99 Bundle has expired. I'll update the description above to reflect that.

There are a lot of printing options out there outside the ST Vault, but unfortunately that means the creators get cut out of their royalties. While everyone is certainly allowed to have the PDFs they own printed, I'd ask you consider buying some of Saskia, Rachel or Mark's other work if you go that way.

Not at this time. We’d love to print the book but Paradox and OBS make those decisions. Not us.

This is a perfect companion for the first-party book, "Sabbat: The Black Hand." So much so that the majority of it would not have seemed at all out of place simply interspersed throughout the official book. While the official book gives us insight into what has happened to the Sabbat over the past two decades — and where they might be heading now — this supplement wastes precious few words on redundancies. Instead it provides guidance for players wishing to run Sabbat characters, including a fair amount of ways to ensure safe play in inevitably dark chronicles.

Perhaps what it does best however — and indeed the core of the experience — is provide mechanics for running revamped Paths within the framework of V5's Humanity system. It's a simple and elegant solution, eschewing what could have simply been a lazy port of earlier editions' Path ratings. Rather, "Playing the Black Hand" pushes Sabbat ritae forward in place of Touchstones. As each Touchstone is destroyed, you gain...See more

Thank you for the amazing review! Much appreciated.

The dream powers are certainly a call back to 1E Sabbat where Dreaming was first introduced as a skill and the thaum path Gift of Morpheus. It also informed our take on the Ravnos, the clan of nightmares, with Sabbat chimerstry being more about making dreams real than illusions.

That makes sense. I suspected it was largely an attempt to associate Chimerstry with the sect! I would have loved to see a write-up about zealous Ravnos filling the ranks of the Gehenna War, looking to stop the Antediluvians after experiencing them first hand during the Week of Nightmares.

What can I say, a welcome edition to the V5 myths via the Storyteller's Vault.

A companion t o Sabbat: The Black Hand, this has just about everything a potential player requires to p participate as a pack member of the Sword of Caine in modern nights...and perhaps a little bit more. Guidance on the Creation Rites, paths of enlightenment as well as creation of Sabbat members....this volume also presents safeguarding for playing a V5 story that both a storyteller and players can agree and define.

The authors and devs are to be commended on this stunning supplement, and if a print on demand copy should become available I would purchase it

Thumbs up

The official V5 Sabbat handbook was controversial for its decision not to include rules for playing Sabbat. Indeed, for going out of its way to make it clear that it was impossible to play Sabbat. There were no rules that could be adapted for such, no Paths of Enlightenment, and no real insights on how to play in the 21st century.

The Black Hand: Playing the Sabbat is a fantastic book that adapts V5's Humanity rules to paths, gives excellent guidance to roleplaying a Sabbat, and addresses the comfort levels of players among other matters. It is an excellent and well-written supplement that really should have been a part of the undersized V5 supplement.

It is pretty close to professional quality and very enjoyable. I think it's the best of all the Sabbat Storyteller Vault supplements.

Very high praise! We tried to produce a book of the same quality as any of the "official" or "canon" books we've all worked on over the years. It was my first time art directing, developing and laying out a book on my own so that was my chief concern but luckily I'd learned from the best in the business and it came out pretty OK.

What does this Sabbat Book offer that others do not? I see that there is currently three big ones (The Black Hand by Judd - Kheil & Liddick, Guide Sabbat by Haller & Soldatovic, and then The Sword of Caine by Jenkins).

Could you explain what yours does differently and why one should purchase this one instead of the others? Of course it would be ideal to purchase all three and sample all of them but my gaming groups budget does not allow for this.

I can't answer that question bc I've not read all of those books. The only help I can offer is to say you should compare reviews and previews of the work and get the ones that fit your budget and the play style of your table. Hi! I love the book, but I don't get how path merits work in a pack with different paths, may be is stated in the book, but I haven't seen it.

The Path Advantages all stack, but many require a certain Blood Resonance on the part of Packmates on a different Path. For example, if your Pack has a Bahari with Mother of Monsters (3) and a Cathari with Party Animals (3), everyone in the Pack with a Sanguine Blood Resonance would benefit from both Advantages bc both paths have a Sanguine Path Resonance. If your Pack has 3-4 Paths in it, then you'll get less benefit from the Path Advantages bc most of them have clashing Path Resonances. Certain Paths, like Caine, have Advantages that don't lean heavily on the Path Resonance mechanic - so Noddists add a lot to Packs without requiring a lot from others.

Path Advantages have to be bought individually by a packmate on the Path. If you take a look at the Path Convictions rules you’ll see that you have to have a number of path convictions equal to the cost of the Path advantage to buy it.

For example, to buy a level 3 Cathari Path Advantage you have to have 3 Cathari Path Convictions.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
