Bloody but Unbowed

You can feel the pulsating bass in the pit of your stomach as you step onto the dance floor. There are roughly two dozen other people here, dancing, drinking, and partying. Colored lights flash and flicker to the beat. In the far corner of the room sits a DJ booth, where Phyzz is spinning. Along the back wall is a small, but well stocked bar. You make your way over and grab your drink of choice. As you pay the bartender, you see a woman, dressed in a black leather jacket and dark jeans, enter the room from the fire exit. The lower half of her face is smeared with blood…

Bloody but Unbowed is a story for Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition in which the characters must deal with the rash actions of a rogue vampire. Bloody but Unbowed is written as an introduction to the city of Rockford in the World of Darkness, but can be inserted into an existing chronicle with little to no work on the part of the Storyteller. Bloody but Unbowed is written with options allowing the troupe to begin as either mortals or vampires.

Bloody but Unbowed includes:

  • City of Rockford: An overview of the city of Rockford, Illinois in the World of Darkness.
  • New Characters: Six new Kindred for use in this adventure including Victoria Tanner, the Toreador Prince of the city.
  • Story Options: A Scenario that can be played as a standard Vampire story, or as a prelude and Embrace tale for a group of Thin-Blooded vampires.
  • Ready-Made Playable Characters: Five mortal character templates for troupes that wish to use this Scenario as an Embrace Story.

It's a fairly good set up for a one shot however the Story Teller should have been given at least soem options on how to flesh the story out rather than mere skeletons. Of course, there are only so many options beforoe you make it linear however [...]

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
