Bastet: Breedbook

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This book points a spotlight on Bastet, providing Storytellers and players alike with the information they need to develop the breed's presence in their game. The original nine tribes are detailed, along with the Khara and the Ajaba, and the genre is enhanced through the addition of new Gifts, rites, fetishes, and hedge magic, as well as various short stories describing the more relevant updates to the setting.

This doesn't seem to provide the rules (or where to find the rules) for some of the Gifts represented in the older version of the book, and yet it lists those abilities in some of the NPC stats inside this book. For example, Withering Stare. Where would we find this?

This book is designed to serve as supplementary material to the original Bastet book for Werewolf: the Apocalypse, as well as the Changing Breeds book for W20. I wanted to avoid duplicating material from those books as much as possible, since it wasn't my work. You can find gifts mentioned yet not presented in this book in each of those two other sources.

Thanks for providing stats and backgrounds for the Jamaks that were mentioned in the past but never had that info.

So what does this book give us that the original Breedbook: Bastet doesn't?

A Tribal write-up and mechanics for Khara, new Gifts and Rites for each Tribe, new Fetishes, new Hedge Magic paths, and extended Tribal histories that elaborate on what has happened between the time of the original write-ups and now.

A preview would be much appreciated. Also, some highlights of what this adds for those of us who already have the old WW Bastet sourcebook (aside from the Khara, which is certainly interesting in itself).

That's my fault. I thought previews had been enabled, but this has been my first attempt at uploading content to this site and I missed it. The planned quick preview has now been enabled.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
