The Athens Chronicles

Book One: Titanomachy

The Athens Chronicles is an epic series of Vampire: The Masquerade stories taking your characters from the 13th century to the 21st, beginning in the Dark Ages. The five chronicle series this begins will release one new book each month, allowing you to play out the full series of events as we go or catch up at any time. Books one, two, and three are designed for the 20th Anniversary Edition of Dark Ages Vampire: The Masquerade. Book four will move into Victorian era, with book five in the Modern/Final Nights.

Athens Chronicles One: Titanomachy launches our tale, plunging young and inexperienced Greek vampires into political and physical action in one of the oldest, most consequential cities in the world. Athens is ruled by a triumvirate of “archons”, ancient Cainites who rule as wisely as creatures of the night can. However, the drums of war are pounding, and uprisings are becoming common in the late Byzantine Empire. Play through the fall of Athens to the Ottoman Empire and see the old order replaced by the Ashirra, the oldest Sect of vampires on earth. Witness the rise of the Anarch movement as it twists into the fanatical Sabbat.

This is only the beginning. The Athens Chronicles explores the most important moments in vampiric political history, thrusting Player Characters from the cradle of democracy into delicate negotiations they’re just barely capable of handling, up against the most important and powerful characters in the Vampire metaplot. In the end they’ll witness the Final Nights as elders, with the wisdom of ages and a number of terrifying experiences under their belts. Will they be better for it, or will they be the very tyrants they’ve spent 800 years fighting against?

This is a Year of the Tide book and series, focused on the important events occurring on the Mediterranean.

Be sure to pick up the 14 free pre-gen characters designed specifically for the Athens Chronicles.

I'd love to do it, but it's a five book series and I'd prefer not to put them out slowly. It's going to take a while before I have a chunk of time to do them all. It's a lot of content!

Certainly if Lucita's Six for V5 does really well, that will motivate me to find the time sooner than later.

But it's definately something I'd love to do eventually!

A book full of ideas and material to flesh out a game set in that period, with the added bonus of another 4 books to create a chronicle spanning many centuries. It's obvious the author has researched the material, e.g. using appropriate descriptions and Greek terms to set a suitable tone for the story.

I couldn't find any "about the author" section, is there a way to communicate with you to pinpoint some typos?

Yep, it starts at the V20 Dark Ages starting year of 1242CE. However, the events of the first adventure don't have to take place in that specific year, since they're not really based on anything historical going on. If you'd like to use it with an existing Dark Ages game that's a few years or decades further on into the period, it could easily be adapted.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
