Twists of Obscenity: Esoterica of the Baali

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Infernal Rising

As bad as you thought the Baali were, you had no idea. Lurking in the bleakest shadows of Oblivion, coiled in Abyss-pits of melting soul-rot, they wait. They wait, and they scheme, and they build their unholy numbers, slowly and deliberately corrupting the incorruptible. Brokering deals on behalf of their demonic masters, or forging obscene bargains of their own, the Baali — true evil in a twisted world of moral grays — are slowly bringing the Outer Darkness directly to Earth, one night at a time.

Hell’s got nothing on us ...

Included within are rules for several new splinter bloodlines of the Baali — including the nightmare-summoning Yomonlik and the devil-in-flesh Akahaete — new Combination Disciplines, new Merits and Flaws, more than a dozen Storyteller Characters, and a new system for Infernal Investments. There are also new morality paths: no Infernalist should try to maintain her Humanity. You’ll also find strange new Disciplines providing your wicked characters more variety and customization than has ever been seen among Vampires.

With this book, your chronicle — whether you stand against the legions of Hell or seek to command their foul contagion — can transcend new levels of utter depravity.

We would love to offer this POD, but that is something Paradox/DriveThruRPG would have to authorize. Please send them a message if you are interested in making this and other books available POD.

i wish they would adopt a system like chaosium does (allowing pod after a certain amount of sales) because, honestly, there's so much stuff here in the vault that i would love on my shelf!

Oooh, that’s quite cool. I have to suspect that the powers-that-be are exploring the best way for readers to get the products they want, so I wouldn’t be surprised if such a thing becomes available in the future. Thanks for checking out the book!

I received a review copy, and I was very impressed. I was enjoying it by page 5, and by page 15 I was hooked. The book drips flavor (see what I did there?) and for the first time in a long while I thought, "You know, maybe it's a good idea to actually be one of these guys." You know it's a good sourcebook when it makes you forget your sense of reason.

Great work! It's informative, creative, and tons of fun to read! Just be sure you know what you're getting into. This stuff is not for players!

The old feel of this book is amazing. Put it next to any of the old clanbooks and it blends in seamlessly. The writing, the art, everything. The thing I love the most is how it does what OWoD couldn't and NWoD was designed for, integration. We have a Vampire book talking about how they interact with Earthbound and The Wyrm. Love it.

In this book is presented the deep secrets of the Baali, the most loathed Bloodline of vampires in the World of Darkness. Here they are shown, in all their vile majesty and infernal glory.

My first impressions of this book are that I love the fluff. I thought, at first, that some of the Disciplines (vampiric abilities) were very much OP, but then I thought, "If you are going to defile your soul for power, shouldn't it be worth it?"
There is a trigger warning at the beginning of the book which, being the neckbeard that I am, I normally loathe to the core of my being. However, in this case, it is definitely warranted. This book pulls no punches, and talks about topics that are never brooked in polite conversation. Oh, who am I kidding? If White Wolf had sold this back in the 90's, it would have been wrapped in plastic and only sold to people over the age of 25 who were wearing neoprene gloves and could present documents proving they graduated from seminary.

Where would I...See more

Where would I use the material printed in this book? The first thing that pops in my mind is as antagonists for an Exalted vs. World of Darkness Chronicle, as many of the powers detailed within nicely echo the Charms of the Infernal Exalted. The second place I could think of to use this book would be in a Gehenna Chronicle, either as PCs trying to prevent the end of the world through the darkest means possible, or as antagonists seeking to hasten the end of the world.

Seriously, if you play Vampire the Masquerade, this is a book you should definitely consider purchasing.

I received a review copy for Twists of Obscenity, and it's a juicy bit of gossip, boss. Twists of Obscenity harkens back to the 2nd Edition Clanbooks of the Old World of Darkness, a tome packed cover-to-cover with atmosphere, character, and lore that gets right to the marrow of the Baali and dissects the clan in grisly detail. Clinton Boomer's talent for writing diabolic and cosmic horror with almost poetic flair is perfect for the Demons. Vampire fans need to pick this up.

I’m so delighted that you enjoyed the book, and thank you — more than I can ever say! — for posting a review. As writers, I think that Joe & I often feel like we’re shouting into the void. I mean, at least, I know that I do! On the topic: I want to thank Joe Weinberg, my friend & writing partner, for being a integral part of this text every step of the way. It literally couldn’t have happened without you, my friend. Here’s to a dozen more.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
