Paradigm Explored: Wyrd and Weft

ADD TO WISHLIST >

What's this book?

A detailed walkthrough of a particular paradigm, ready for use in your game or by your character.

M20 replaced the previous "focus for each Sphere" system with something much more personal requiring a deeper understanding of a character's paradigm to determine their paradigm, practice, and instruments. Paradigms Explored: Wyrd and Weft walks through in detail the magickal tools, connections, rotes, and Wonders, of one Norse practitioner. This is a character you drop into a game as a character, enemy, ally, or contact.

What's in it?

Sections on:

The individual tenets of this Norse paradigm
The practices involved in that paradigm and the cosmology that underpin it
The instruments through which that channel is practiced
The rotes that the character can use combining paradigm, practice, and instrument into focuses to create effects

But also:

Allies and enemies that character may have
Two sample sources of quintessence
Supernatural contacts and antagonists
Advice on talking to the dead (in-game)
Recommendation on how paradigm should influence paradox

Does this cover all of Norse magick?

No, 25 pages isn't enough space to include all the magickal practices that the Norse family of magick could include, but it goes into detail on the fibercraft, ancestor communication, and wyrd manipulation aspects of Norse magick.

I am reading it right now and yes its exactly what we need- its not about the specifics, its more like - this is how you can structure a paradigm and practice and make things interesting with instruments and background. Exactly what I need to build my own. Great inspiration, its a good application of all the principle of mage 20th, how do you do that and mage made easy.
Thanks!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
