The Stone Age Revealed!

The Fera are old and so are their mysteries.  It is time to explore those events and mysteries first-hand with Werewolf: the Savage Age.

With this book you now have the tools to play in a game of Werewolf: the Apocalypse set in prehistory.  Hunt mammoths, walk with your ancestors, and fight in the War of Rage.

The Khara, Apis, and Grondr were some of the first Fera to take the fight to the Garou -- and each paid the heavy price of extinction.  They were not the only ones to suffer from the Garou's hubris, there were others like the enigmatic Anupu-Ba-El, once independant jackal-shifters, who were empressed into the Garou's ranks.

It is time to tell their stories from their perspective.

The Savage Age Vol: 1 Features:

I bought early editions of some of your Savage Age stuff with the old covers (excellent books, btw). While checking for more recent content I noticed that many of the older works (Savage Age One: Accounting for the Dead, Tribebook: Naghaluu, Tribebook: Ceilican and Tribebook: Khara) all had nifty new covers. I clicked the download links but none of these books had the new cover art displayed on their pages. I even bought the Savage Age Intro Bundle (it was 50 cents so no big deal) to see if they included the new covers. No luck. :( Is there any way to get these pdfs with the new covers?

Any plans to combine the Savage Age pdfs into a single book, soft or hard cover?

I would love to combine this into one singular omnibus. If given the opportunity, what I would like to do is take all the various books in the line, combine them, and then go back with a heavy edit so that it all flows appropriately.

Unfortunately, Storyteller's Vault does not allow us to use the WW IP to produce physical books. That is their policy, and I stick with it. If they ever change it, you can bet I will get the Savage Age into print as fast as possible. Until then, we wait.

So -- first off, thank you so much for noticing the new covers. As the line matured, I wanted to get more and better art even with the older products. I wasn't sure anyone but myself would notice... so... thank you. Really. Having you notice little upgrades like that makes it worth the time and money.

I will go back this weekend and put the new covers into the Savage Age Vol 1 and 2 files. I will include images with the trade dress and clean ones without the logo so you can see Paul's art in all its glory. If, by Monday, they are still missing yell at me at the weaponized ink email address or on Facebook.

Cool?

Ralph? Check the updated file -- you should have two versions of the new covers in Vol 1, 2 and 3. I also did a bit of cleanup on each one.

I have questions:
Is this series (including the Savage Age Tribebooks) compatible with the CB20 and Shattered Dreams books, or is it a separate envisioning of the Wars of Rage, the Khara, and the other Fera? I'm not familiar with Shattered Dreams but if this is a separate vision, I'd like to know what the biggest differences are between the two.

Hi Ellen,

They are different visions. Savage Age stands on its own (or, at least, only with Werewolf 20th as support). Shattered Dreams doesnt cover the War of Rage in as much detail as the Savage Age does, especially in terms of the specific Fera writeups and the essays on civilization you find in the Savage Age line. Savage Age was designed to focus on the War of Rage specifically, and the Pleistocene/dawn of civilization more generally.

Part of the impetus to write the Savage Age books was to fill in gaps and address a few historical/evolutionary oversights in Shattered Dreams. Shattered Dreams tends to cover a number of different eras and locations by telling the story through semi-historical recounts, while Savage Age is more focused on describing the Pleistocene era by providing Fera-focused writeups, mechanics, and essays on how to game in prehistory.

When there was an opportunity, we worked to keep the Savage Age in line with Shattered Dreams, but there are...See more

Hello Christopher,

Thank you for the detailed reply. I'd also like to know whether your Khara Tribebook is in line compatible/congruent with the Khara in CB20, as their purpose, culture, and stats were in that book? If you decided to take them in a diffrent direction, I'm curious what that is.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
