Changeling: the Lost Second Edition Storyteller Screen & Companion

Once upon a time, they took you from your home.

They promised you a place at their side, and meaning in your life, and they
surrounded you with beautiful things.

But the beautiful things were oh so sharp, and they laughed when you bled.

Day by day, they changed you. But day by day, your will grew stronger.

On the last day, you smashed your way through the beautiful things and ran, not noticing as you bled or feeling as you cried.

You fought with courage and cleverness and took yourself home.

Now the beauty and the horror are yours, to have and to hold and to live.

Welcome to once upon right fucking now.

A digital edition of the Changeling: the Lost 2nd Edition Storyteller Screen for use with your tablets or virtual tabletop play. It includes a set of charts and tables for quick reference to assist the Storyteller when running your game.

Additionally, the Storyteller Secrets Companion to the screen offers additional quick references to make the Storyteller's job easier, including Conditions, charts, and a lexicon.

This could have used an additional page with more information. If one is to assemble this into a physical product, then four pages would be the norm for products meant to facilitate this. The information added in the companion is good, but a bit poorly organized. With these kind of tools, you want a neatly organized and very dense assortment of information, on page 4 of the insert the bottom right section is blank, as is the bottom third of the last page of the insert. The DM screen is a full eighth of one of the 3 pages dedicated to a copyright disclaimer. I understand the necessity of this disclaimer for legal reasons, but certainly it could have been made smaller.

The screen downloads fine, but the booklet insert won’t download as a PDF to my iPad. Going to try it on the computer.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
