One of my go to one shot modules. Absolutely fantastic. Its fun, contained and creative. Ive never had players resolve things the same way twice. It has maps, and stats, really all you need to run successfully.
I highly recommend.

Hi! I just started running this module and one of my players cast detect thoughts on the possessed child. How would you have played this situation?
My solution was for the player to listen to the superficial thoughts of both the child and the creature, but when they tried to probe deeper the Quori resisted and lashed out.. I'm interested in hearing your interpretation!

Oh that's really interesting! Hmm...

So, first I should clarify that the quori hasn't actually succeeded in possessing Joachim yet. The quori has been invading his dreams for a while, and Joachim can remember this when he wakes, so he's getting more and more terrified that he'll eventually give in and lose to the quori and THEN become possessed. So detect thoughts on an awake Joachim won't detect the quori at all.

As for Joachim, his surface thoughts would not be any different from the "tantrum" he's having, because he isn't using a filter, he's just screaming exactly what he's scared of. He "doesn't want to go". Delving deeper will reveal that he terrified of being taken away from his parents by a monster he saw in a nightmare. I would deliver this information to the players casually, as if shrugging off the nightmare as typical childhood fears.

Thank you for your answer!

Another question that I don't think is explained, during the second part, would you allow a player to tell the others that they are dreaming?
If one fails the saving throw, can they try again?

I would let them try to get other pcs to begin lucid dreaming like that, sure. I would allow them to attempt the save again, but only if they're confronted by the dream reality in a different way. So their party members trying to do it allows one save, then maybe after every combat encounter if they've already failed the save once before.
Effectually though, at the "vault door" to the engine car, everyone automatically realizes they're dreaming.

Looking to use this in my Roll20 game, but am having trouble resizing the maps to fit on the grid. Anyone else have this issue?

I'm just finishing up my FantasyGrounds conversion for my group to play through this weekend.
Do you have any interest in distributing it if I send you the .mod file?

For those of you who've run this adventure, how long did it take you?

We just ran it two weeks ago. It took about three or four hours? The adventure has the whole section with the noble car and the optional heist, but my players didn't get into any shenanigans though.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
