NOTE ON V5 UPDATE

This publication is designed to work with any edition of Vampire, so it contains information relevant to each one. However, not all information provided will be used in all editions. It's up to you to select what's useful for your chronicle, ignoring what doesn't. Some information can be useful regardless of the system used, such as weapon size, weight, ammo capacity, concealment, etc. Other information is only for certain specific editions, like weapon damage for example.
How to calculate weapon damage for V5?
The combat in V5 is extremely simplified to a point where weapons are only categorized by rough groupings. Physical combat is presented as though it's meant to be kept out of the way of the story. Using weapon damage at all is an optional rule in the system, and as such is found in the advanced combat section. In V5, situations involving basic contests that result in damage – physical or mental – are called conflicts, they are explained starting on page 123. Basically, damage is the difference in successes between two Conflict Pools. For more advanced conflict systems, on page 304 you'll find a table with damage modifiers for weapons by type, and that's all you need to calculate the damage of all weapons in the book.
If you'd like to expand the combat system rules even further, you can benefit from the parameters in this book as a basis for comparison to create your homebrew.

Hi, I’ve purchased this previously and now see this labeled for V5; however, the damage listed for many of these weapons seems much higher in rating; will this be updated?

Hi! This publication is already fully compatible with V5, as it brings real information on real weaponry, which can be used in any way you like to better illustrate your chronicles and characters. The combat in V5 is extremely simplified to a point where weapons are only categorized by rough groupings. Physical combat is presented as though it's meant to be kept out of the way of the story. Using weapon damage at all is an optional rule in the system, and as such is found in the advanced combat section. That said, you can choose to benefit from any of the information made available in this publication, such as the weapons size, weight, ammo capacity, market price, rate of fire, concealment, rarity and availability as well as technical and historical information about the weapons presented. Thanks for the question!

Are there any plans to upgrade this title, (or add an addendum), so that it will be compatible with v5 after October 15th? is there a way to reach you outside of the comments section here?

Thanks for the question! I noticed that you asked this same question in each of the books in this collection, so I will also be copying the answer for you in all of them. Good games!

Hi, is this easily adaptable to V5? If I buy this and it gets updated to the newer V5 rules will I have to buy it again?

Hello, thanks for your interest! Storyteller's Vault does not allow content for V5, but if it is allowed in the future, in an eventual update of this product you will not need to pay again, all updates are free. That said, this book was written with comprehensive content in order to allow its use in any Word of Darkness system from the first edition to the fourth (aka 20th Anniversary), I believe that you will have no problem adapting for your V5 campaigns. If you are interested, I recommend downloading this DEMO containing samples of the first four books in the collection, so you can check if you like the format: https://www.storytellersvault.com/product/239519/Hunters-Armory-Demo-Collection

Are The difficulty ratings meant for the soak roll or the to hit roll? If not why are some of the to hit rolls at difficulty 8? Wouldn't that skew the combat more towards melee?

Hello! Actually this information will only be needed if you are playing under older Vampire the Masquerade rules set. Prior to the fourth edition (V4), the difficulty for a firearm attack was determined by the weapon itself (in addition to the custom modifiers). From V4 the difficulty for all attacks became standardized as 6, and new combat maneuvers were being introduced to the system over the years. Anyway, you can use all those however you prefer, according to the characteristics of your chronicle. I hope it helped, thank you very much for your support!

Just to clarify, with V4 you mean V20? Neither V20 nor V3 (or better "Revised") used any difficultys besides 6 for the basic firearms, at least not in the main rulebooks. I am not that familiar with 2nd or 1st edition. Can you maybe elaborate were I can find some more detailed weapons stats? I like your books because of that - judging by the preview, havn't bought them yet. They look great by the way!

Yes, I'm sorry I mean V4, aka 20th Anniversary Edition. On the 1st and 2nd edition, the difficulties were determined by the weapon itself. As you pointed out, since 3rd edition they standardized it as 6. So if you're playing under 3rd or 4th edition rules (or play-testing the 5th edition) you will not use this, just ignore the difficulty rate. Thanks for the support!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
