Vampire, Twentieth Anniversary Edition: The Classical Age

ADD TO WISHLIST >
Suggested Price $15.99

The world of AD 62 is completely new for vampires. There has never been so much organization, but there has never been so much belief. Mortals know that supernatural creatures can exist and any misstep will surely cause the death of vampires. The clans cannot reach a multiple agreement and the fight is far from over. Nero's madness is just beginning, as his recent discovery of Cain's descendants has only put to the test that even great elders can fall. You have to act fast, before the circus catches fire.

The War of Clans has never been more present. On the one hand, Ventrue, Toreador and Malkaviano are united looking to maintain their power on Rome. On the other hand, the Brujah clan is struggling to regain its lost status after the fall of Carthage. Gangrel work hard to keep Roman troops occupied while members of the Ravnos clan infiltrate deadly diplomacy in order to delay the triad's efforts. Lasombra exploit as much as they can in the eastern region of Rome, taking advantage of Ventrue's lack of dominance and the chaos caused by the endless Tzimisce wars. The Salubri work to control a great plague that has been plaguing the empire, the fruit of Baali's remnants of Carthage. Meanwhile, the Death clan protects Christians from religious persecution, employed by Rome. Haqim's absence forced the Assamite clan to move and a search for the clan's honor is just beginning. Not everything is what it seems, because among the most religious, the Followers of Set still remain in the shadows influencing weak minds. This conflict could not be the same if it were not for the Nosferatu, involving their networks to gain space within civilization.

Vampire, 20th Anniversary Edition: The Classical Age is a game of political and supernatural narrative of vampires, enveloped in a world of darkness capable of bringing hopelessness and disappointment to even the most courageous.

This scenario brings the following news:

  • They feature the 13 Families and 9 bloodlines, expanding the classic world.
  • Contains the story of the vampire families, with different views and versions of the story. Each, detailed in a different way.
  • New qualities, background, characteristics, blood spells, a new system of Disciplines and how to create and adapt new Disciplines and rituals.
  • New rules, scenario details and plot based on the history of the Roman Empire were created, bringing even more depth to every single aspect of the vampire scene.

I wish I could enjoy this book. It's a great idea and it's clear the authors are passionate about the setting... however, there are so many grammar and technical mistakes (incorrect game terms, untranslated bits) that even reading it is a chore. As a free product it would be great, but it's not worth $16

Hi Chrystian, I was just wondering if you were still considering giving this book one more round of revisions. I have been looking into various printing services because I would love to have a copy of this sitting with my other World of Darkness books, but I have been holding off in case there happens to be an update. Getting the second page for the Strixes would be nice. They are the only bloodline listed in the book that doesn't have a symbol, or information on their weakness, character creation or stereotypes.

Chrystian, I love the work you have done on the setting. I bought all of your books and am using the setting. I just wanted to say thank you and this has opened up my Vampire Games.

Hey Victor! How are you? Thank you very much for the compliments. I noticed you commented that you wanted a translation for the books, but they already exist in Portuguese! (I believe that you might be Brazilian by your name, it's very common in Brazil). If not, I apologize for not translating to Spanish or another language, it's just that I do not have any valid knowledge of it. Check it here: https://www.storytellersvault.com/product/331696/Vampiro-Edicao-de-20-anos-de-Aniversario-Era-Classica // I hope you continue to enjoy my publications. Strong hug!

Is this a core rulebook or just a scenario?

From what I hear, it's a Setting Sourcebook. Includes rules it needs, but not the basics I believe... Dark Ages Vampire 20th or VtM20th rules needed.
It's a PDF, so it's most likely a sourcebook style book.

Is this book still being updated for spelling errors? Are there plans to add the second page of the Strixes bloodline?

How are you, Chad? No. Vampire: the Classical Age 20th is already in its final update since it was launched last year. I've improved a lot since the 1st version and I think its good the way it is. If you're looking for new Discipline powers, Merits and Flaws, Crossovers and etc, you can check out Secrets of Unlife ($ 9.99), the Ultimate Discipline and Sorcery Companion ($ 9.99), and Nightfall (which can be taken for free). Other stuff can be seen in Fall of Carthage and Kindred Mythology. Hope this can help you :)

Hi Chrystian, thank you for the reply. I really like this book and picked up the all of your Classical Age books. After just a quick glance I did find a couple of spelling errors. Page 20 the word Methuselah at the top of the heading in bold letters is misspelled. On page 21 the word Ninth at the top of the heading in bold letters is also misspelled. Also the second page of the Strixes Bloodline is missing, I am guessing that it would be page 87. I think that this is a great looking book and I would love to have a printed copy, but I think that it would really benefit from one more round of editing.

Wow, this request was so nice compared to others I've received that I'm seriously considering another "round" of review for the corebook. Over the next week, I need to release fixes for the Discipline Compendium and the Merits and Flaws Guide. I believe I will publish another revision for the corebook soon then.

I am extremely pleased and glad that you enjoyed the book. Any other questions, I left it here.

Page 88 is missing. That being said while I don't mind the book I wish it had been translated to english or proofread better. Some bits are quite awkwardly worded or just plain wrong. (Viziers prioritising mints comes to mind. Though that did make me laugh at the time of writing as I'd thought it was Malkavians)

Hi Chrystian, I bought your Book recently and I was really disapointed that there was no bookmark-system or links in the content table. But I am not here to cry because to make it more usefull for myself I just incorporated it into my pdf document of the core rulebook and in the next days I will do this with the supplements too, to make using it more comfortable when I am GM and searching the rules or information.

I think that something like this was not part of this until now is one of the greatest flaws of your phenomanol book. So I would be happy if I could send you my version and if you think it is acceptable update it in. I think this is a really good book and I would be happy to help it become even better.

Since I cannot respond to responses on a review, I am afraid that the response I have been given is incorrect. Downloading the version currently on this site (2027030-Vampire_20TH_Anniversary_Classical_Age_Digital) still contains untranslated content on page 57 and seems to be missing a page on the Strixes at page 87. The reference to "The Hug" is still existant on page 403. Furthermore, the book has a table of contents at the start, but no index.

I'm not adverse to revising my opinion when confronted with changed circumstances, but I do not enjoy being told that things are fixed when they aren't.

Great afternoon, Bavo T! How are you? I feel like I've been disappointed. Apparently, one of the updates I released hadn't come into vogue yet. I just released a new update (13:34 - 09/07/2021) fixing a lot of stuff.

I hope it's at least enough to please your reading. As I've specified in several posts on social media, I'm always updating all the books I publish. Don't worry that books will always be revised. Furthermore, I wish you good games! And a great read.

After giving the book another read, I must say I remain unconvinced by the quality of the translation. Many pages still contain untranslated words or strange turns of phrase. If this is considered a "Finished Version", it's unpolished at best.

I am thinking of purchasing this to run at my table, but I run v5 (withhold judgement please. I am not very (read: at all) experienced in V20. Do you think this would be difficult for me to adapt to the v5 mechanics? This really sounds awesome...

As Storyteller I would recommend you to read the story, the plot, to take every concept of the game and translate to your chronicle. You don't need to read the rules if you're playing v5. Its just like playing v5 on a new scenario. Hope you have a good game! haha and good reading

Well, this was a pleasant surprise! Great book, thank you very much. I'm enjoying it even more as I am reading the Percy Jackson series to my son right now. I know you have just finished, and would probably like to rest right now, but I'm curious about any future plans for other 20th anniversary titles (Werewolf, Mage, Changling)?
Thanks again for the great book, cheers!

Unfortunately, I am not authorized by the publisher to release the book in print version. Since I am releasing updates every week, I would recommend that you wait until the last one to print your book. Do not worry! I believe there should only be two more updates.

Hello Kindred. How are you? See, the project is completed already. I'm just finishing some touches! I think in this or next week, Fall of Carthage should be launched. I've added some new content, revised new stuff and i've been working hard to make it so great as Classical Age is. You can expect almost 180 pages. Also, with full hd maps of the city. Be aware! Soon you will be able to play in Carthage.

Also, remember: Delenda est Carthago!

Edit 1: About the Carthage project, it is already finished it! I'm just waiting for the illustration to finish his artworks for the book. I'm also excited for the launch!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
