Denmark by Night

ADD TO WISHLIST >

From the time of the Vikings, to the nights of a small, modern nation, Denmark has changed with the ages. So, too, have the vampires that inhabit this Scandinavian kingdom, creating a unique domain and a peculiar division of power.

Denmark by Night is a setting book for the 20th Anniversary Edition of Vampire: The Masquerade, designed to work both as a sourcebook for a chronicle set in the Kingdom of Denmark, or as setting for already established characters to visit.

Denmark by Night includes:

  • A history of both the Kingdom of Denmark and the capital city; Copenhagen.
  • A description of Denmark’s mortal world, as well as the dark world of the Kindred.
  • Numerous story hooks, chronicle possibilities and Storyteller Characters.
  • A new type of monster to serve as antagonists or allies for daring Kindred.

Hmm that sounds like much. As a fellow Dane I'm trying to figure out if I'll find the pdf worth $10 and how useful it is for me. I'm mostly interested in the supernaturalization of my country and capital, as well as plot hooks, opportunities and relationships/conflicts between established NPCs, as seen in the classic By Night books(Chicago, New York, LA. etc.). These books allows you to jump right into a game that you can run almost like an open world game for your players, thanks to the detailed Vampire environment, politics and community in those cities.

I would say about 55 - 60% of Chapter 1, 40 - 45% of Chapter 2.
If you're planning a visit to Denmark or gonna write a school paper on the country, I suggest other sources. *G*

Is the book currently finished? If not what is its current page count? Only asking cause one of the earlier comments stated it wasn't finished

From my personal perspective DENMARK is a highly interesting nation, as it indeed blends cultural contact of the Europeans with the Norse, and not meant as Danish people not having their own culture either. Good luck for your sales.

Sidenote: I do believe in so-called reciprocal, or quit pro quo, kinda reviewing, though customer informing reviews are what I crave the most for my own little files here...

Thank you, Martin. I realize a sh*it-ton of fully statted out characters is not for all, but writing characters is something I really enjoy, so I decided to write 'em all. :)

Last chapter will be NPCs, but it'll be a while before it's added, since I need it alpha and beta-read first. *G*

Growing up on the other side of Öresund, this was a fun read. What can we then expect in future parts?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
